Day 1: Arrive Christchurch (-/-/-)
Pick up and transfer to hotel by shuttle service. The rest of the day free at leisure. Overnight in Christchurch.
Day 2: Christchurch - Kaikoura Dolphin – Christchurch (B/-/-)
Breakfast in hotel. From Christchurch, you will travel by road through Northern Canterbury to the coastal town of Kaikoura where stunning mountain ranges meets the sea. Kaikoura is renowned for its diverse range of marine mammals which reside off this stretch of coastline all year long, including the Giant Sperm Whale and the acrobatic Dusky Dolphins. After returning to shore, there will be an opportunity during the day to visit a seal colony where fur seals may be viewed at close quarters before returning back to your accommodation in Christchurch. Overnight in Christchurch.
Day 3: Christchurch – Mt Cook – Queenstown (B/L/-)
Breakfast in hotel. Leaving Christchurch in the morning, we travel through the fertile farmland of the Canterbury Plains to the shores of the stunning, glacier-fed Lake Tekapo, where you can view the solitary Church of the Good Shepherd and take in the sights of the spectacular Southern Alps. We then continue to the location of New Zealand's tallest mountain, Aoraki / Mount Cook, situated in a national park and UNESCO World Heritage site. Rising to 3,724 metres high, Aoraki certainly lives up to its name, which in Māori can be translated as 'cloud piercer'. Enjoy lunch at the famous Hermitage Hotel in Mount Cook Village.
After lunch you'll have time to explore the village and soak up the view. The tour continues south, past Lake Pukaki and through the tawny tussock of the Mackenzie Country. Your tour concludes in the evening upon reaching Queenstown, the adventure capital of New Zealand. Overnight in Queenstown.
Day 4: Queenstown – Milford Sound - Queenstown (B/L/-)
Breakfast in hotel. Follow the southern arm of Lake Wakatipu to Lumsden, and onward to Lake TeAnau. Enter the Eglinton Valley and travel through the breath taking man made Homer Tunnel to reach Milford Sound. Enjoy a cruise on this world famous fiord, dominated by Mitre Peak and the cascading Bowen Falls. Buffet lunch is also included on cruise today. Return to Queenstown. Overnight in Queenstown.
Day 5: Queenstown Free Day (B/-/-)
Breakfast in hotel. A free day to explore the endless optional attractions available. Overnight in Queenstown.
Day 6: Depart Queenstown (B/-/-)
Breakfast in hotel. Pick-up and transfer to the airport by shuttle service.
