In the evening you join a mysterious tour by private coach and English speaking guide, looking for the Aurora Borealis, on a dark winter night in Iceland. Far from the glow of the city, we hunt for the elusive Northern Lights.
The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon and beyond our control. They are visible in Iceland from September through April but visibility is subject to Northern Lights activity and cloud coverage We cannot guarantee sightings even if the tour is operated.
Day 3
South Shore Adventure
Breakfast at hotel. Visit the amazing South Shore of Iceland crossing fertile farmlands with striking views over waterfalls, glaciers and beautiful nature. It’s a great way to spend a day in Iceland.
Among the stops on this tour are the gorgeous Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss waterfalls. What makes Seljalandsfoss so famous and interesting is that you can walk behind it. We recommend you bring either a raincoat or a waterproof coat along if you want to stroll behind it which we of course highly recommend.
Skogafoss, another famous Icelandic waterfall is something of a film star, having been used as a backdrop in films such as
Thor: The Dark World Game of Thrones, Eurovision Song Contest: the Story
of Fire Saga, and.
The Secret Life of Walter Mitty
You will also stop at Reynisfjara black sand beach, with the Reynisdrangar rock formations and columnar basalt. It is one of the most spectacular beaches in Iceland. Important: Reynisfjara beach can be quite dangerous due to powerful “sneaker waves“, and you must not go too close to the ocean. Please follow all guidelines at the beach.
You will also stop at Solheimajokull glacier tougue and enjoy the view (please note glacier walk is not included).
No lunch included. (Supplement for 2 or 3 course lunch is suggested)
Return to your accommodation in Reykjavik in the late afternoon, dinner is on your own.
Day 4
Into The Glacier – Borgarfjörður
Breakfast at hotel.
The Langjökull Ice tunnel is the world’s first and largest man-made Ice Cap Glacier tunnel. This is an adventurous, once-in-a-lifetime journey to the heart of a glacier.
Start with a drive to the historical area of Borgarfjörður. On the way to the edge of the glacier, you’ll stop and witness Deildartunguhver, the largest hot spring area in Europe, and Hraunfossar, a series of waterfalls formed by rivulets streaming out of a lava field. When you reach Langjökull glacier you will board a scheduled monster 8-wheel glacier truck (shared truck ride) that will take you high up the slopes to reach the entrance of the ice cave.
During the guided visit within the glacier itself, you’ll see colours of blue you never knew existed and learn how glaciers hide the secrets of history. After approximately 50 minutes in the glacier, it’s time to head back to Reykjavík.
No lunch included. (Supplement for 2 or 3 course lunch is suggested)
Return to your accommodation in Reykjavik in the late afternoon, dinner is on your own.
